Udinese 0-2 AC Milan: Pulisic Scores as Hutchinson Seals Victory
Christian Pulisic and Omari Hutchinson were on target as AC Milan secured a convincing 2-0 victory over Udinese, responding strongly after their recent European disappointment.

AC Milan Return to Winning Ways in Udine
AC Milan produced a composed performance at the Bluenergy Stadium on Sunday night, defeating Udinese 2-0 to strengthen their position near the top of the Serie A table.
The Rossoneri entered the match looking for a response after their disappointing Europa League defeat to Bournemouth, and they delivered exactly that. Two goals, one in each half, were enough to settle the contest as Christian Pulisic and Omari Hutchinson found the net.
Milan also controlled much of the game through possession, keeping 60 per cent of the ball compared with Udinese’s 40 per cent. The visitors finished with 19 attempts and seven shots on target, while Udinese managed 12 efforts and five on target.
The result also extended Milan’s unbeaten start to eight Serie A matches.
Pulisic Gives Milan Early Advantage
Milan wasted little time making their presence felt.
Just six minutes into the match, Christian Pulisic opened the scoring after a clever set-piece routine from Luka Modric. The experienced midfielder quickly released the ball over the top, catching the Udinese defence off guard.
Pulisic timed his movement perfectly, brought the ball under control and finished past Maduka Okoye to give Milan a 1-0 lead.
The early goal allowed Milan to approach the rest of the half with greater confidence. Udinese attempted to respond and had opportunities from distance, but the home side struggled to create the kind of clear chances required to seriously trouble Mike Maignan.
Milan, meanwhile, remained dangerous whenever they moved forward. Pulisic continued to influence the attack, while Davide Bartesaghi also found space in advanced positions.
There was a major opportunity for Milan to double their advantage before the break when a dangerous ball was sent across the face of goal, but Pulisic and Bartesaghi were unable to turn it home.
Despite failing to add another goal, Milan went into half-time with a deserved 1-0 advantage.
Hutchinson Doubles the Lead
Udinese needed a strong start after the interval, but Milan remained the more threatening side.
The visitors eventually found their second goal in the 65th minute, with Omari Hutchinson getting on the scoresheet.
Ardon Jashari’s powerful effort forced a save from Okoye, but the goalkeeper could only parry the ball into a dangerous area. Hutchinson reacted quickest and finished the rebound to make it 2-0.
The goal was particularly significant for the former Nottingham Forest winger, as it marked his first goal for AC Milan.
With a two-goal cushion, Milan became increasingly comfortable. Udinese continued to search for a way back into the contest, but their attacking play lacked the necessary precision in the final third.
The hosts finished with 12 shots, but only three came from inside the box. Milan, by contrast, recorded 15 attempts from inside Udinese’s penalty area, highlighting the difference in the quality of their attacking positions.
Milan Manage the Game Professionally
Once Hutchinson made it 2-0, Milan did not need to take unnecessary risks.
Ruben Amorim’s side managed the remainder of the match with patience, moving the ball around and limiting Udinese’s opportunities to build sustained pressure.
Mike Maignan was still required to make important saves, particularly when Udinese managed to find space around the Milan penalty area. His contribution ensured that the home side could not find a route back into the match.
Milan also continued to create chances of their own. Gonçalo Ramos came close to adding a third when his effort was brilliantly kept out by Okoye, who produced an excellent save to prevent the scoreline from becoming more emphatic.
The visitors eventually saw out the game without conceding, completing a professional away performance.
According to the match statistics, Milan finished with 19 shots, seven on target and 60 per cent possession. They also created more attacking opportunities and showed greater efficiency in front of goal.
Udinese Unable to End Losing Run
For Udinese, the defeat extended a difficult spell.
The home side entered the game having already suffered five consecutive Serie A defeats, and the loss to Milan made it six straight league defeats.
There were moments when Udinese showed energy and determination, particularly in midfield and during periods of pressure in the second half. However, their inability to consistently create dangerous chances ultimately proved costly.
Keinan Davis had an opportunity to give his team hope, but Udinese could not find the breakthrough they needed.
Their 40 per cent possession also reflected how often Milan were able to dictate the tempo. While possession alone does not determine a football match, Milan used their time on the ball more effectively, producing more threatening situations around the box.
Udinese’s defensive work kept the scoreline respectable, but they were unable to prevent Milan from taking advantage of the chances that mattered most.
Man of the Match: Christian Pulisic
Christian Pulisic was the standout player of the match.
The American forward was central to Milan’s victory from the opening minutes, scoring the first goal and remaining a constant threat throughout the game.
His sixth-minute finish immediately changed the complexion of the contest. Beyond the goal, Pulisic continued to make intelligent movements and repeatedly looked capable of creating something whenever he received the ball in dangerous areas.
He also came close to adding a second and played an important role in Milan’s attacking combinations. His movement gave Udinese’s defenders problems and helped create additional opportunities for his teammates.
Pulisic was rated as the highest-performing player on the pitch, receiving an 8.2 rating from Sofascore. He also received the most fan votes for Player of the Match.
His performance was exactly what Milan needed after their difficult European outing. Rather than allowing that defeat to affect their league campaign, Pulisic helped lead the response with an early goal and an energetic attacking display.
A Valuable Victory for Milan
The 2-0 victory gives Milan another important result in their Serie A campaign and provides a confidence boost following their European setback.
Pulisic’s early goal gave the visitors control, while Hutchinson’s first Milan goal effectively ended Udinese’s hopes of a comeback.
The clean sheet was another positive, with Milan showing discipline at the back and composure when Udinese attempted to increase the pressure.
For Amorim, the result will be particularly encouraging because Milan did not need to produce a spectacular performance to collect all three points. They were simply more efficient, more dangerous in key areas and more composed when opportunities arrived.
With Pulisic continuing to deliver, Hutchinson opening his Milan account and the team maintaining its unbeaten Serie A run, the Rossoneri have another reason to believe they can remain among the leading sides in the league.
Final score: Udinese 0-2 AC Milan.
Goals: Christian Pulisic 6’, Omari Hutchinson 65’.
Man of the Match: Christian Pulisic.
