Ballon d’Or 2026: Harry Kane Wins as Mbappé and Yamal Complete the Podium
Harry Kane has been crowned the 2026 Ballon d’Or winner, finishing ahead of Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal after a remarkable season with Bayern Munich and England. Here is the complete final ranking from first to 30th.

Harry Kane has been crowned the winner of the 2026 Ballon d’Or after finishing ahead of Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal in a star-studded final ranking.
The Bayern Munich and England striker claimed football’s most prestigious individual prize at the 70th Ballon d’Or ceremony in London on Monday, October 26. His victory represents a major milestone in his career and makes him the first Englishman in 25 years to win the men’s Ballon d’Or.
Kane’s triumph came after an outstanding 2025/26 campaign in which he produced an extraordinary number of goals for both club and country. The striker scored 73 goals in 65 appearances, including 61 for Bayern Munich and 12 for England. His performances helped Bayern retain the Bundesliga title, while he also finished as the German top flight’s leading scorer for a third consecutive season.
He also made his mark in Europe, scoring 14 goals in the UEFA Champions League as Bayern progressed to the semi-finals. Kane’s contribution extended to the international stage, where he helped England reach third place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, their best finish since winning the competition in 1966.
The Ballon d’Or victory adds another major individual honour to a season that already established Kane as one of the most productive forwards in world football. Earlier during the ceremony, he was also named Men’s Striker of the Year and received the Gerd Müller Trophy.
Mbappé finishes second
Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé finished second in the voting, narrowly missing out on the main prize despite another impressive year.
The France international remained one of the biggest attacking threats in world football and was widely regarded as one of Kane’s strongest competitors for the award. His second-place finish confirms his position among the leading players of his generation.
Mbappé’s ranking also reflects the consistency he has maintained at the highest level. His ability to score, create chances and influence major matches made him one of the leading candidates throughout the Ballon d’Or race.
Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal completed the top three. The Spanish teenager continued his rapid rise at club and international level, earning another major individual recognition by winning the Men’s Young Talent of the Year award.
Yamal’s third-place finish also underlines how quickly he has established himself among the elite. Despite his age, the Barcelona forward was competing directly with established stars such as Kane, Mbappé, Messi and Haaland.
His position among the top three represents another major step in what has already become an extraordinary young career. Yamal has increasingly become one of the players attracting the most attention whenever Barcelona take the field.
Messi makes the top five
Lionel Messi finished fifth in the final standings, continuing his remarkable presence among the world’s leading players.
The Inter Miami and Argentina captain was placed behind Kane, Mbappé, Yamal and Rodri. His fifth-place finish means he remains a major presence in the Ballon d’Or conversation despite being well into the latter stages of his legendary career.
Rodri claimed fourth place after another influential campaign. The Spain international was followed by Messi, with Paris Saint-Germain’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia taking sixth.
Ousmane Dembélé finished seventh, while Manchester City striker Erling Haaland was eighth. Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise took ninth, with Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Fabián Ruiz completing the top 10.
The top 10 demonstrated the depth of competition for the award, with players from several of Europe’s biggest clubs represented. The presence of experienced winners alongside emerging stars also showed how broad the Ballon d’Or field had become.
Bellingham, Rice and Vinícius among notable names
Jude Bellingham finished 11th, narrowly missing out on the top 10. The Real Madrid midfielder was followed by Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsí in 12th.
Achraf Hakimi was the highest-ranked Moroccan player, finishing 13th, while Portugal and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Vitinha came 14th.
England midfielder Declan Rice finished 15th after an impressive campaign with Arsenal and England. Ferran Torres was 16th, while Real Madrid forward Vinícius Jr. finished 17th.
Marc Cucurella occupied 18th place, followed by João Neves in 19th and Paris Saint-Germain defender Willian Pacho in 20th.
Arsenal defender Gabriel was ranked 21st, while Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martínez finished 22nd. Nuno Mendes came 23rd, with Bayern Munich forward Luis Díaz in 24th.
Paris Saint-Germain captain Marquinhos was 25th, followed by Bayern Munich defender Dayot Upamecano in 26th.
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes finished 27th, while Julián Quiñones was 28th.
The final two positions were shared, with William Saliba and Sadio Mané both finishing tied for 29th place.

A historic night for Kane
Kane’s victory is particularly significant because of the long wait for an English winner.
He becomes only the fifth Englishman to claim the men’s Ballon d’Or, following Sir Stanley Matthews, Sir Bobby Charlton, Kevin Keegan and Michael Owen. Owen was the previous English winner, taking the award in 2001.
The 2026 ceremony was also historic because it was held in London rather than Paris. The decision to stage the event in England was a tribute to Matthews, who became the first-ever Ballon d’Or winner in 1956.
For Kane, the achievement represents the culmination of years of individual excellence. After establishing himself as one of Tottenham Hotspur’s greatest players before moving to Bayern Munich, he has continued to deliver goals and trophies on the biggest stages.
His journey to the award has been particularly notable because he spent much of his career competing at the highest level without winning the Ballon d’Or. The move to Germany provided a new chapter, and his performances for Bayern strengthened his reputation as one of the most complete strikers in modern football.
The 2026 result therefore carries significance beyond a single trophy. It rewards a player whose career has been built around consistency, goals and leadership while also giving England another name to celebrate in the history of the prestigious award.
Kane’s victory also creates an interesting picture for future editions. Mbappé and Yamal remain among the strongest candidates for years to come, while players such as Haaland, Bellingham and Vinícius Jr. are still capable of returning to the highest positions.
With Mbappé second, Yamal third, Rodri fourth and Messi fifth, the final standings provide a fascinating snapshot of the current football landscape. Established legends, players in their prime and the next generation of superstars all featured prominently.
But on a night celebrating the best individual performances of the year, it was Kane who stood above them all.
Harry Kane is the 2026 Ballon d’Or winner.
