Barcelona delivered the kind of response their supporters had been waiting for, sweeping aside Deportivo Alavés 6-1 at Camp Nou in a commanding La Liga performance.

After a difficult spell that had seen Hansi Flick’s side suffer defeats against Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona returned to form in emphatic fashion. They controlled the match from the opening stages, created a constant threat in the final third and punished Alavés whenever gaps appeared in the visitors’ defensive structure.

Raphinha led the charge with two goals, while Lamine Yamal also produced a brace. Fermín López added another before half-time and substitute Anthony Gordon completed Barcelona’s scoring in the second half. Mariano Díaz scored a consolation for Alavés late in the match.

The result saw Barcelona strengthen their position at the top of La Liga with 30 points, moving two points clear of Atlético Madrid.

Raphinha Opens the Floodgates

Barcelona needed only eight minutes to break through.

Raphinha was in the right place at the right time as Fermín López delivered the ball into a dangerous area. The Brazilian reacted quickly to finish the opportunity and give the home side an early advantage.

The opening goal immediately settled Barcelona, who began moving the ball around with greater confidence. Alavés attempted to stay compact, but the speed of Barcelona’s passing made it difficult for the visitors to maintain their shape.

Raphinha continued to cause problems on the left side, combining effectively with his teammates and constantly looking for opportunities to attack the space behind the Alavés defence.

His second goal arrived in the 41st minute. Fermín again played a major role in creating the opportunity before Raphinha calmly completed his brace.

By that point, Barcelona had established complete control of the contest.

Fermín López Adds Another

Fermín López was not satisfied with simply providing the service for Raphinha.

The midfielder doubled Barcelona’s advantage in the 23rd minute with an excellent finish from a difficult angle. His goal reflected the confidence running through the Barcelona team, as they continued to attack even after taking an early lead.

Fermín’s contribution was particularly important because his movement between midfield and attack gave Alavés another problem to deal with.

Whenever the visitors attempted to focus their attention on Raphinha and Yamal, Fermín found spaces to exploit.

His performance also demonstrated the collective nature of Barcelona’s display. Although Raphinha and Yamal eventually attracted most of the headlines, the supporting work from players such as Fermín was central to the victory.

Yamal Joins the Party

Lamine Yamal entered the scoresheet just before the interval, giving Barcelona a 4-0 lead at half-time.

The youngster had already been heavily involved in Barcelona’s attacking movements, and his goal provided another reminder of his growing importance to the team.

Yamal’s ability to receive the ball in dangerous positions repeatedly forced Alavés defenders backwards. Rather than relying entirely on crosses or direct attacks, Barcelona used his technical ability to break through the defensive lines.

The timing of his first goal made it particularly damaging for Alavés. The visitors were already facing a difficult task, and conceding again moments before half-time effectively ended any realistic hope of a comeback.

Barcelona went into the break four goals ahead and with the match firmly under their control.

Barcelona Keep Their Foot on the Gas

The second half was played at a slightly slower tempo, but Barcelona remained the more dangerous side.

Flick began managing his squad with a demanding week ahead, allowing some of his key players to receive rest as the game progressed.

Despite those changes, the attacking quality did not disappear.

Yamal completed his brace in the 64th minute after Gabriel Jesus created the opportunity. The young forward showed composure to finish the move and make it 5-0.

The goal was another example of Barcelona’s ability to create chances through quick combinations around the penalty area.

Yamal was subsequently withdrawn to protect him after another highly productive performance. His two goals ensured that he left the pitch having played a major role in one of Barcelona’s most convincing victories of the season.

Gordon Makes It Six

Anthony Gordon then added Barcelona’s sixth goal in the 81st minute.

The Englishman had come off the bench and quickly made his presence felt. After making a dangerous run into the area, Gordon went through on goal and produced a composed finish over Antonio Sivera.

It was a fitting reward for his movement and attacking intent after entering the contest.

At 6-0, Barcelona were enjoying one of their biggest victories of the campaign, while Alavés were left searching for something positive to take from an increasingly one-sided encounter.

Mariano Díaz Scores Alavés’ Consolation

Alavés eventually found a consolation goal in the 84th minute.

Mariano Díaz took advantage of an error in Barcelona’s build-up and finished the opportunity to give the visitors something to celebrate.

The goal did little to change the outcome, however, with Barcelona already comfortably ahead.

For Alavés, the defeat extended their difficult run and highlighted the gap between the two teams on the night. They struggled to cope with Barcelona’s movement, possession and attacking quality for long periods.

Raphinha Named Man of the Match

While several Barcelona players delivered excellent performances, Raphinha deservedly emerged as the Man of the Match.

The Brazilian finished the game with two goals and was one of the most influential attacking players on the pitch. His movement, finishing and willingness to attack Alavés from wide positions made him a constant problem throughout the first half.

His first goal settled Barcelona early, while his second effectively removed any remaining doubt about the result before the interval.

Raphinha’s performance also carried significance beyond the two goals. He repeatedly stretched the Alavés defence and gave Barcelona an outlet whenever they looked to accelerate their attacks.

His form has become increasingly important to Flick’s team, particularly with Barcelona competing on multiple fronts. According to match data from FOX Sports, Raphinha was rated 8.5 and listed as the Player of the Match.

The brace also underlined his scoring form this season, with reports placing him among La Liga’s leading scorers.

A Much-Needed Response for Barcelona

The 6-1 victory was more than just another three points for Barcelona.

It was a statement response following their recent setbacks and a reminder of the attacking strength within Flick’s squad.

Barcelona finished the match with 77 percent possession and 13 total shots compared with Alavés’ seven, according to the statistics shown in the match data. Their dominance was reflected not only in the final score but also in how consistently they controlled the ball and territory.

The performance also demonstrated the depth available to Flick. Raphinha and Yamal supplied the goals, Fermín provided another major contribution, Gordon scored after coming off the bench and Gabriel Jesus made an immediate impact by assisting Yamal.

For a team looking to challenge for major honours, having multiple players capable of changing matches will be crucial.

Barcelona will now take confidence from this result as they continue their pursuit of another La Liga title. The manner of the victory will be particularly encouraging for Flick, who saw his players respond to recent disappointment with intensity and attacking purpose.

Alavés, meanwhile, will have to regroup quickly after suffering a heavy defeat at Camp Nou.

For Barcelona, however, the night belonged to Raphinha, Yamal and an attack that rediscovered its rhythm. A 6-1 scoreline sent a clear message: the league leaders remain capable of producing devastating football when their forwards find their best form.
