Cristiano Ronaldo Hits 67th Career Hat-Trick as Al Nassr Beat Al Kholood 5-3 at 41
Cristiano Ronaldo rolled back the years with a stunning second-half hat-trick as Al Nassr defeated Al Kholood 5–3 in the Saudi Pro League, taking the Portuguese superstar’s reported career tally to 985 goals.

Cristiano Ronaldo continues to defy age and expectations.
At 41 years old, the Portuguese superstar produced another remarkable performance on Thursday night, scoring a second-half hat-trick as Al Nassr defeated Al Kholood 5–3 in a thrilling Saudi Pro League encounter at Al-Awwal Park.
Ronaldo’s three goals came within just 15 minutes, turning what had been a tense contest into another memorable night for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner. His treble, reported as the 67th hat-trick of his illustrious career, took his reported career goal tally to 985, leaving him just 15 goals away from the extraordinary 1,000-goal milestone.
The match was far from straightforward for Al Nassr, however. Al Kholood repeatedly threatened to spoil the home side’s night and showed enough attacking quality to keep the contest alive until the final whistle.
Al Kholood strike first
Al Kholood made the brighter start and stunned the home supporters when Julien Domingues opened the scoring in the 16th minute.
The early goal forced Al Nassr to respond, and the hosts gradually began to establish control of possession. Their pressure eventually paid off when Ângelo Gabriel found the equaliser in the 24th minute.
With the momentum beginning to swing towards Al Nassr, Sadio Mané completed the turnaround in the 38th minute. The Senegalese forward put his team 2–1 ahead and appeared to have given them the advantage heading into the interval.
Al Kholood refused to disappear from the contest, though. Antoine Loic Essomba Bikoula restored parity deep into first-half stoppage time, scoring in the 45+2nd minute to send the teams into the break level at 2–2.
Ronaldo endured a frustrating opening half himself. The Al Nassr captain had goals ruled out for offside, leaving him still searching for a legitimate breakthrough despite remaining heavily involved in his team’s attacking play.
Ronaldo takes over after the break
The second half belonged to one man.
With the score tied at 2–2, Al Nassr needed a player capable of making the difference, and Ronaldo delivered exactly that.
The Portuguese forward finally got his goal in the 66th minute. João Félix played a key role in the move, providing the assist as Ronaldo finished to put Al Nassr back in front at 3–2.
It was the moment the pressure began to lift from the veteran striker.
Just six minutes later, Ronaldo struck again.
João Félix was once more involved, delivering the ball towards the area, where Ronaldo rose to meet it and produced a powerful header. The finish gave Al Nassr a 4–2 advantage and completed an astonishing two-goal burst in the space of six minutes.
But Ronaldo was not finished.
In the 81st minute, the 41-year-old completed his hat-trick to put Al Nassr 5–2 ahead. This time, Sadio Mané was the provider, with Ronaldo finishing another dangerous attacking move to put the result seemingly beyond Al Kholood’s reach.
The three goals came in the 66th, 72nd and 81st minutes, giving Ronaldo one of the most impressive scoring spells of his Saudi Arabian career.
Al Kholood refuse to give up
Despite falling three goals behind, Al Kholood continued to fight.
Domingues converted a penalty in the fourth minute of added time to reduce the deficit to 5–3. It was his second goal of the night and gave the visitors a late glimmer of hope.
There was ultimately not enough time for another comeback, however, as Al Nassr held on to claim all three points.
The final score reflected an entertaining match in which both sides created opportunities, although Al Nassr’s superior attacking quality eventually proved decisive.
The statistics also highlighted the hosts’ control. Al Nassr finished with 54 per cent possession compared with Al Kholood’s 46 per cent and registered 16 total shots to their opponents’ seven. They also recorded nine shots on target, compared with five from Al Kholood.
Those numbers underline how frequently Al Nassr tested the visiting defence throughout the contest.
Ronaldo reaches 985 goals
Beyond the three points, the biggest talking point from the match was Ronaldo’s latest step towards 1,000 career goals.
His hat-trick took the reported total to 985, meaning only 15 more goals separate him from one of the most extraordinary individual milestones football has ever seen.
There is currently some statistical disagreement surrounding the exact figure because a previously disputed goal against Al Faisaly has been counted differently by various statistical providers. Some databases list Ronaldo at 984, while the Saudi league’s reporting and several major reports put him at 985. For NewsVaultHQ, the widely reported 985 figure is used in this report.
Regardless of the statistical debate, Ronaldo’s latest performance added another extraordinary chapter to his career.
At an age when most professional footballers have long since retired, he remains capable of deciding important matches with the same ruthlessness that has defined his career for more than two decades.
Man of the Match: Cristiano Ronaldo
There was little doubt about the standout performer on the night.
Cristiano Ronaldo was the Man of the Match.
The Al Nassr captain scored three goals, turned the game around in the second half and produced the decisive contribution when his team needed him most.
His performance was even more remarkable considering the frustration he experienced earlier in the game. Two disallowed goals could easily have affected his confidence, but Ronaldo continued demanding the ball and looking for opportunities.
Once his legitimate first goal arrived, the floodgates opened.
His second goal demonstrated his aerial ability, while the third showed his instinct inside the penalty area. The treble also highlighted the extraordinary longevity that has become one of the defining features of his career.
João Félix also deserves significant credit for his contribution. The Portuguese attacker was heavily involved in Al Nassr’s attacking play and provided assists for Ronaldo’s first two goals, while Mané supplied the final pass for the hat-trick goal. Reports credited Félix with four assists during the match. (Diario AS)
Nevertheless, the night belonged to Ronaldo.
Another step towards history
Al Nassr’s victory keeps their Saudi Pro League campaign moving in the right direction while Ronaldo continues to chase the biggest personal target remaining in his career.
The 5–3 scoreline will be remembered, but the image that will stay with many supporters is Ronaldo celebrating his third goal at 41 years of age.
His latest hat-trick is another reminder that, despite being deep into the final stages of a career that began more than two decades ago, the Portuguese icon remains one of football’s most dangerous finishers.
With 985 goals now being widely reported, Ronaldo needs only 15 more to reach 1,000.
For a player who has spent his entire career breaking records, the countdown continues.
